Welcome 2008
.

A new one, a year to add to the history of the Pecos Rio Grande Museum. Starting as a small display, in a small library, in a small town, we have grown. From a small vanity page, with small hopes, we are now one of the major museums on the internet.

From over three thousand files, are offered over a thousand views of early man history. And it would seem, at least a million words. The story of the museum has been one of discovery. At the start, a search for artifacts, that soon changed to a search for facts.

History can at times be a bore, even to this author. But to learn, even of ones self, can never be. We are of the species man. Unique? We will never know. What we do know, that our part is small, yet to not discover it, is a waste.

Among the several doors to the past of man, we hold open a very special one, our library. Please, if you have the time, step in. It is here, we share the full width of our work. From artifacts and data, the facts and reasoning are now offered.

Man is now offered, the grand artifact of all. And this year, in our display of man human, we offer his mind. Our one of a kind display, his doodles.

A thank you from Pennsylvania

The E-Mail tells the story. And we sure enjoy getting it. So drop off a note to pecosrio9@yahoo.com, or click any of the several e-mail tags among the displays.

Please, may I add a note. I will frequently use the term "we", and for this I must apologise. There is no we, at least not here. The thirty plus years of field work, and the several added years of setting up the net displays, all are the fault of myself. The advice of others over the years has been great, the aid and friendship offered has been of great value. But I must say this, as there have been requests, and they are a thrill, to work with me. I can only state my personal regrets, I can not accept them.

I must admit, there are those times when you point out our errors, and yes we appreciate them. In fact, it is these errors on our part, that spur us on. As it is your notes, telling us real nice visitors are out there. Us? Yes, my over worked proof reader "MO". Without her we can assure you, all would be a mess.

Of the hoped for expansions of the displays, it has been slow. The Weaving displays are better than ever. As many of our visitors are interested in ways man lived day to day, at the shelter, our cooking display now offers his everyday foods. It offers you a view of man in Texas 2,000 to 9,000 BP. at the dining table.

And a hope for 2007, a new home. A public display.

We know the museum has grown and most will not push through it in a single visit, so save our link, and come back many times.
